PRIVACY POLICY
Thank you for visiting Meeteor, Inc.’s web site (the “Site”) located at http://www.meeteor.com Your privacy is important to us. This privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains certain policies that Meeteor, Inc. (“Meeteor” or “we”) has implemented governing our use of Personally Identifiable Information (as defined below) and other information that we gather from users of our Site and online professional networking service (the “Service”). Meeteor is a professional networking service through which we connect people that we believe share common interests. You will create a user profile in which you can identify your goals of using our Service. For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Personally Identifiable Information” means any item of information, that by itself, or when combined with other information, permits a person to be identified, including, without limitation, a person’s first and last name, telephone number, or e-mail address.
This Privacy Policy, together with the Terms of Use (the “Terms”), govern your use of the Site and Service. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and the Terms, each as amended from time to time, Meeteor is unwilling to allow you to, and you may not and must not access or use, the Site or Service.
Changes to Privacy Policy
Meeteor may add to, change, or remove any part, term or condition of this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice to you. In order to optimize the results of your use of our Service, you may choose to provide additional Personally Identifiable Information and other information to us through the Service, although you are not required to do so. For example, you may choose to include your educational and professional background in your Service profile, or you may choose to provide us with access to additional information through third party applications, or through your university course feed.
In addition, we may collect Personally Identifiable Information that you provide to us through communications that we have with you (whether initiated by you or us), by telephone, e-mail, web site submissions, letter, or in other forms of communication, and we may associate such Personally Identifiable Information with your existing Personally Identifiable Information in our records.

We also may disclose your Personally Identifiable Information to our third party vendors and service providers who we engage to assist us in making the Site and Service available, and to perform information processing and data management on our behalf. We require these third parties to process Personally Identifiable Information strictly in accordance with our instructions, and we require them to use other appropriate security and confidentiality measures to protect your Personally Identifiable Information.

Meeteor shall not be liable for any disclosure of your Personally Identifiable Information to third parties as set forth in this Privacy Policy, or any use or disclosure of your Personally Identifiable Information by such third parties.
We also may transfer your Personally Identifiable Information to: (i) any current or future parent, affiliate or subsidiary of Meeteor’s; or (ii) a successor entity upon a sale, merger, consolidation or other corporate reorganization in which Meeteor participates.
Deletion of Personally Identifiable Information
You may access your Service account and delete your Personally Identifiable Information contained in your Service account at any time. In addition, upon receipt of a written request from you provided by e-mail or letter, and on condition that you are otherwise in good standing with Meeteor, you may request Meeteor to delete any remaining Personally Identifiable Information from its records. Upon receipt of such request, Meeteor will use good faith commercially reasonable efforts to delete your Personally Identifiable Information from its files and records; provided however, that: (i) Meeteor shall be entitled to retain your Personally Identifiable Information to the extent that it is legally required to do so under applicable laws, rules or regulations; and (ii) you acknowledge that Meeteor shall not be required to delete your Personally Identifiable Information from its archives, back-up files or other data storage locations if it would be unreasonably impractical or expensive for Meeteor to do so, although Meeteor will continue to comply with the terms of this Privacy Policy in respect of any of your non-deleted Personally Identifiable Information. We are not required to retrieve, or require any deletion of, any of your Personally Identifiable Information that we have previously provided to any third party as permitted by this Privacy Policy. You acknowledge and agree that upon deletion of your Personally Identifiable Information, Meeteor will be unable to provide you with any copies of such Personally Identifiable Information and you are solely and exclusively responsible for keeping your own copies of any Personally Identifiable Information that you provide to Meeteor.
Cookies and Other Tracking Devices
As stated above, we may use cookies and other tracking devices on our Site. We may use small text files called cookies to uniquely identify your browser. A cookie is an element of data that a web site sends to your browser, which may then store it on your system. We use cookies so that we can improve the overall experience, quality and accuracy of our Site and Service. For example, a cookie can store your Site and Service user preferences. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, and you can adjust your cookie settings in your browser to accept or reject cookies. However, you may not be able to effectively use certain features of the Site and Service if your cookies are disabled. We use cookies to assist us with the administration of the Site and Service, to enhance the user experience in using the Site and Service, to improve the Site and Service, and for research and development. We may connect and store information that we derive from cookies associated with your use of the Site and Service, with your Personally Identifiable Information.
Web Beacons, Pixel Tags and Other Technologies. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. web beacons, web bugs or pixel tags), in connection with our Site to, among other things, track the activities of website visitors, help us manage content, and compile statistics about website usage. We and our third party service providers also use clear GIFs in HTML e-mails to our customers, to help us track e-mail response rates, measure the success of our marketing campaigns, identify when our e-mails are viewed, and track whether our e-mails are forwarded.
Advertisements
We may display advertisements on our Site. Some of the advertisements may be based on the collection of information about you either individually or in the aggregate.
We may use third parties such as network advertisers to serve advertisements on our Site. Network advertisers are third parties that display advertisements based on your visits to our Site and other websites you have visited. This enables us and these third parties to target advertisements to you for products and services in which you might be interested. Third party ad network providers, advertisers, sponsors and/or traffic measurement services may use cookies, JavaScript, web beacons (including clear GIFs), Flash LSOs and other technologies to measure the effectiveness of their ads and to personalize advertising content to you. These third party cookies and other technologies are governed by each third party’s specific privacy policy, not this one. We may provide these third-party advertisers with information about your usage of our Site and our Services, both personally identifiable and non-personally identifiable information.
You may opt-out of many third-party ad networks. The website http://www.networkadvertising.org/optout_nonppii.asp provides information regarding this practice by Network Advertising Initiative (“NAI”) members, and your choices regarding having this information used by these companies, including how to “opt-out” of third-party ad networks operated by NAI members. You also may contact About Ads at http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ for information about opting out of targeted advertising and your choices regarding having information used by About Ads member companies, including how to “opt-out” of third-party ad networks operated by About Ads members. Opting out of one or more NAI members or About Ad members (many of which will be the same) only means that those members no longer will deliver targeted content or ads to you, but it does not mean you will no longer receive any targeted content or ads on our Site or other websites. You may continue to receive advertisements, for example, based on the particular website that you are viewing. Also, if your browsers are configured to reject cookies when you visit this opt-out page, or you subsequently erase your cookies, use a different computer or change web browsers, your NAI or About Ad opt-out may no longer be effective. Additional information is available on NAI’s and About Ad’s websites accessible by the above links.
Links to Third Party Web Sites.
The Site and Service may provide links to other web sites that are not owned or operated by Meeteor (“Third Party Web Sites”), including without limitation, web sites owner or operated by Service sponsors. Meeteor provides these links to you as a convenience only, and Meeteor does not verify, make any representations concerning, or take responsibility for, such Third Party Web Sites, or the products or services offered through such third party web sites, including, without limitation, the truthfulness, accuracy, quality, or completeness of the content of, or activities conducted on, such Third Party Web Sites. You should use your own independent common sense judgment before accessing and using such Third Party Web Sites, or products or services offered through such third party web sites. This Privacy Policy and the Terms do not apply to such Third Party Web Sites, and you should review such Third Party Web Sites’ privacy policies, terms and conditions and business practices as they may be different to those of Meeteor and it is your sole responsibility to comply with such terms. Your dealings and communications with any third party in connection with the Third Party Web Sites are solely between you and such third party.
Security
We employ procedural and technological security measures that are reasonably designed to help protect your Personally Identifiable Information from loss, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. In this regard, Meeteor uses firewalls, password protection, physical and personnel access restrictions and other security measures. While we strive to do our best to protect your privacy, Meeteor cannot guarantee that unauthorized access to, or disclosure of, your Personally Identifiable Information will never occur, and to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law, we will have no liability to you for any unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction of your Personally Identifiable Information.
Children’s Privacy
Meeteor recognizes the privacy interests of children and we encourage parents and legal guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities and interests. The Site and Service are only intended for persons who are aged 16 or older, and Meeteor does not knowingly collect Personally Identifiable Information from persons under 16 years of age. If you are under the age of 16, your parent or legal guardian cannot consent to your use of the Site or Service.
Processing of Personal Information
Our computer systems and those of our third party vendors and service providers may be located in the U.S. or other countries, so your personal data may be processed at locations where data protection and privacy regulations may not offer the same level of protection as in other parts of the world, such as the European Union. By using the Site and Service as a person from outside the U.S., you agree to this Privacy Policy and you consent to the transfer of your Personally Identifiable Information, and other information that you provide to us, to the U.S. and other countries, which may not offer an equivalent level of protection to that required in the European Union or other countries, and to the processing of that information as described in this Privacy Policy.
