In 2009, Phil and Chris went off to business school and soon realized that networking was a needlessly miserable experience. Whether their classmates were looking for jobs, investors or like-minded people, the process was always incredibly tedious.
Identifying which of your friends are relevant for each of your networking goals takes a lot of time and requires you to ask a lot of favors. Furthermore, it’s not necessarily accurate or comprehensive: your old high school friend may know a lot of people at companies like Google, McKinsey and Goldman, but you’d only know that if you asked.
That’s why we created Meeteor: we want to make the networking process more social. Our goal is to use your friends to get you introductions at the companies or industries you’re interested in.
Philip lives for bringing cool ideas to life, and has had a passion for networking since his senior year of high school, when he networked into a job at the DNC (as the youngest intern in that summer class). During his job hunt in college, he networked with more than 200 Wesleyan alumni in the span of 6 months, and was ultimately invited to be part of Wesleyan’s Career Advisory Council. After earning his MBA at the Wharton School he moved to Seattle where he’s trying to break into the triathlon, startup, and rowing communities. (We’re not sure he’s any good at triathlons, but he certainly does love all that gear!)
Chris is the execution engine that helps Meeteor breathe. After studying Computer Science at UC San Diego, Chris worked for Apple as a Project Manager and managed the development of four Mac OS X releases. When Chris was interviewing at a new company he tapped his network and got a ringing endorsement from a close friend and confidant of his interviewer in less than 48 hours. Chris earned his MBA from the Wharton School where he was also the president of the Brewmasters’ Guild. Work hard play hard, right?
Other than being an animal at Rails, Brandon is the lead singer and guitarist of an awesome band in Philadelphia, I am Lightning, which you should check out if they’re ever in your area. He taught himself how to code in the womb, and has basically never stopped since. (We’ve had to get him 3 new keyboards this year.)
